Helvetica

If you have time make sure you catch this movie on PBS tomorrow night January 6th at 10:00pm. They're also showing it again Wednesday January 7th at 2:35am. I posted this once before but just in case you didn't get a chance to peep it here's the preview once again.

I am sure by now some of you have seen this or even heard of it. I will tell you that this movie is a must. It really breaks down typography for those of you who are true type heads. Of course it talks about the origin of Helvetica but it is more than just that. I am probably dating myself with this but I do remember a time when we had to draw our type by hand and set it all by hand before computers were so easily accessible (them shits used to go for like $6-7,000 which translated into like $10-12,000). The computers back then were slow as hell and no memory, oh man (floppy disks, sy-quest, zips and jaz) slow ain't the word. Back to type, I guess that's why I have so much love for graffiti and other forms of art just because it is one thing to have talent but a skill is something that takes time to develop and master.
